About

I directed a series of videos for the Open University's introductory science course, S111.

This OU distance learning module covers astronomy and planetary science, biology, chemistry, earth and environmental sciences, and physics.

Domestic Settings

I worked with academics from The Open University to shoot scientific demonstrations in domestic settings, showing how students can recreate the experiments at home with household items.

The complex two-camera shoot involved location lighting and slow-motion capture.

Above all, the quality of the explanation - both visual and oral, was of paramount importance.

Behind The Scenes

The videos illustrate a series of questions aimed to encourage scientific thinking - such as 'Can you make a hole in water?' and 'How do you know what is alive?'.

Completing these Open University modules can count towards a certificate of higher education, diploma of higher education, foundation degree or an honours degree.
